Ted Hair Reviews

I’m Dasia, a licensed cosmetologist of 4 years and someone who has been interested in beauty my whole life. I know finding a reputable hair company can be a difficult task.

So today, I am going to be reviewing a unit from the e-commerce company TedHair. The specific unit is a HD lace closure straight wig. It has a 150% density and a 5×5 closure.

The unit was purchased full price and without any incentive. This review will be 100% unbiased and reveal a personal experience with the company.

Overview

Ted Hair was established in 2008 in Hong Kong. The company specializes in human hair weave and has 8 warehouses across the states. This corporation has proved to be a reliable company for clients all around the world.

When first logging onto the company site it’s hard to realize they sell hair. It looks like it’s marketed towards vendors who want to sell in bulk. While they are keen on advertising for their warehouses, they do accurately showcase products.

Ted Hair offers a wide variety of different hair types and quality that may be hard to find at times, such as mink and raw hair. While this is the case they seem to be most known for their lace front wigs.

Customer service seemed about average, it depends who you get. I received updates via text and was able to find a lot of helpful information through their help section. On the other hand when I went to use their live chat, despite them clearly being online and the only customer asking a question I got no answer.

The delivery time for this item was very fast, only about 2 business days. While the shipping was fast and the unit came intact, the packaging could have improved. For a unit around $200, the packaging seemed quite cheap and tacky.

The biggest downfall in this company seemed to be their customer service and below average hair quality. Many have highlighted their disappointment through reviews. On the other hand there was an overwhelming amount of people who felt as if the service provided was great and the price matched the product provided.

What I Like

  • Wholesale prices – any type of business can apply to accessing these discounted prices.
  • Hair texture – The straight hair was silky, soft, and looked healthy.
  • Shipping – The hair arrived in just 2 business days.

What I Don’t Like

  • Stitching – The hair, especially around the hairline could have been neater.
  • Pricing – The hair seemed a little overpriced for the product.
  • Packaging – The packaging was tacky, it came in a plastic bag. I expected more for the price.

Hair Quality

Hair strand

This hair was purchased in the color 1B or natural black. Since the hair is straight you can’t hide any bad or irregular color making it easy to see the color is rich from root to tip.

Even though the hair is straight the tips aren’t thin, the color adds to the thick look. Having a straight texture really shows off the fluidness of the hair.

The hair is also very soft and silky to the touch. The hair has little to no shedding when brushed, meaning it will have a longer longevity. The silkiness also allows you to easily glide through any tangles.

Hairline

This unit has a closure that is 5×5 in size. The fact that the unit has a closure allows for a free part within the specific dimensions which allows for further styling.

The closure is made from swiss lace, a very popular material for lace wigs. This type of lace tends to be quite thick and durable. This means the unit will often last longer if properly cared for.

The unit came with a  pre-plucked hairline and baby hairs. The baby hairs were long enough to be recut to your liking.

Density

This HD lace closure wig was purchased in a straight texture with 150% density. This is a slightly thicker density than a normal head of natural hair. This means the hair won’t be too thick

Due to the fact that the hair texture is straight the 150% density is perfect. It has a thickness that is very natural. This is perfect since the site doesn’t allow for you to change the density.

The unit goes up to 24’’ but it’s important to note the hair may become too thin if chosen at that specific length. At 14’’ in length the density is just right.

Construction

One downfall to the unit would have to be the stitching. Since the piece is paired with a closure instead of a frontal the sides are clearly shown.

The hair is stitched around the side of the unit to cover the wefts but not done in a nice way, certain areas are gapped and missing. The company could have easily fixed this by adding additional wefts in between the existing ones.

Other than the hairline construction, there are no other areas that posed a problem in construction.

Cap Size

The unit size was flexible. It has 3 combs following the closure and 2 elastics at the back. There are 8 slots along the back to attach the elastics meaning you can easily fit the wig to your liking.

The cap is made from a very stretch material that is breathable and covers most of the unit. Since the cap makes up most of the unit it’s a positive the hair is made from a breathable material so your head doesn’t get too hot.

The cap is advertised as a medium size and not changeable. As long as the cap isn’t too small, there are plenty of ways to make it accurately fit.

Store Experience

The first impression when visiting this e-commerce site is the promotion of their warehouses. They advertise the 8 different locations they have in the states. Growing your business seems to be their goal.

The company provides top quality hair at an affordable price but it isn’t advertised a lot. They advertise new products and a handful of other products such as bundle packages and wigs.

One thing to mention is all of their stock photos are done on mannequins. This makes the units a little difficult to see the full look. Most stores show their products on real models which lead to a lasting look.

Range of Products

The product this company seems to focus on the most is wigs, specifically lace based ones. The site claims to have at least 41 different types of lace based wigs which is a higher number of products than anything else on the site.

Ted hair also has a wide range of different hair types; Brazilian, Malaysian, Peruvian, and Indian. All of these hair types are virgin hair which is of premium quality.

Other products the company advertises are mink and raw hair. Both of these can be difficult to find but Ted hair has a full inventory of these top quality products.

Customer Support

The company has a few different means of helping customers. Two of the easiest are the expert help section on the website along with a live chat feature.

The expert help section covers areas like quality guides such as what to expect from their products. They also cover a color and length match that helps you to decide the best choices for you.

The live chat can be a helpful feature but not in this case. When I went to use the chat I got a notification saying I was unable to be helped but I was first in line.

When the order was placed I did receive an update via text. They provided a tracking number along with a notification of the hair being delivered. They strive to build a good report with their customers.

Delivery Time

The shipping of this product took only about 2 business days. If the products are in stock the company claims to ship within 24 hours, if the hair is customised it can take up to one week.

The company uses the services DHL, UPS, USPS, and FedEx. The order processing times are 1-2 days and the shipping is 3-4 days. Once your order has shipped you will receive a tracking number.

If an incorrect address is applied the company does its best to help. If the order isn’t shipped you can contact the company’s support to notify them. If the products were already shipped, hopefully they are returned to the warehouse and Ted hair can refund or resend the products.

What others are saying

This customer is content with the service she received. The shipping was fast and she found the prices to be reasonable. The quality of the hair seemed to match the price she paid.

This customer was not too happy with the service and the hair she received. The quality of the hair was below average and customer support wasn’t any better. 2 managers were contacted and still the issue wasn’t resolved.

FAQ

What type of hair does Ted Hair provide?

Ted hair is 100% pure virgin hair, this means the hair is untreated. Due to the fact that the hair is virgin it comes directly from a single doner. This can mean that each donor has a different type of hair and can be slightly different in color and texture.

How do I pay for an order?

The company accepts many different payment methods, the most common is Paypal. It’s important to note that if you choose this method you will be charged an additional 5% on your order. You will be notified of the payment once the order is complete.

Where does Ted Hair ship from?

Ted hair ships from China. The company uses the service DHL to ship to the United States. Expedited shipping is available at extra cost, the cost and timing can vary.

Do we recommend it?

This company would not be my first choice of recommendation. The hair is nice but the brand doesn’t seem to be ideal for the average consumer.

The website heavily marketed their warehouses across the US along with the aim of helping grow a business. If this is your goal, to shop wholesale for a business Ted hair may be for you, otherwise no.

The hair seemed overpriced and while the quality was good, not everything was held to a high standard. For an average consumer id say skip it unless you are in need of a quick unit.
